Eminem was born on October 1972 in St. Joseph, Missouri as Marshall Mathers III. He was raised by his mother, Deborah Mathers. It was hard growing up with his mother because she couldn't keep a job more than a few months at a time. They also had to move from city to city which means that he had to switch schools a lot. It was hard for him to adapt. Eminem failed the ninth grade three times and finally dropped out of high-school at age seventeen. Even though he wasn't a very good student, he was had a liking for language and comic books. He even the Dictionary because he felt that he should be able to always have words at his disposal, to pull them out whenever he needed them
When Eminem was a teenager he started to express himself through hip-hop, which also let out a lot of anger he had at the time. He loved the well-known rap group N.W.A. As he got older her started to rap in underground rap contests. A lot of people looked down on him and didn't think he would do well because of his pale skin and his blue eyes. But as a Eminem started rapping more often and winning contests, people started to respect him more. He started of with the artist name "M&M" as it refers to his initials but later started writing it out "Eminem". While he started to work odd jobs to get by was when he started dating Kim Ann Scott. In 1995 they had a daughter named Hailie Jade Scott.
Eminem wrote his first independent rap album "Infinite" because he was inspired by the birth of his daughter. Unfortunately, the album didn't turn any profits or attract any attention. When Eminem released "The Slim Shady EP" the legendary rapper Dr. Dre discovered it. Later after working with Dr. Dre for two years, Eminem released "The Slim Shady LP". This album was a huge success and it sold over three million copies. In May 2000 his second album was released, " The Marshall Mathers LP" which features the heartbreaking song "Stan". In 2001 Eminem hooked up with some of his that he knew from Detroit to form the group D12. They recorded and released an album called "Devils Night". A year after the group made the album, Eminem released the solo album "The Eminem Show".
Later Eminem stopped making music for a couple of years. Him and his wife Kim divorced until after their on a off relationship and remarried in 2006. They divorced a month later. His alcoholism then got worse and he got addicted to painkillers. Eminem kicked his addictions by 2008. He then started working on music and he released his first album in a long time, "Relapse".
Eminem's latest album "The Marshall Mathers LP 2" has sold 2.004 million copies so far, which is around the average of how many copies he sells. "The Marshall Mathers LP" was one of Eminem's albums that sold over 10 million copies. It sold exactly 10.8 million copies. Along with his impressive album, his history on the Hot 100 charts is also impressive. Eminem is one of the seven rappers to have at least fifty songs on the Hot 100 chart. "Headlights" from "Marshall Mathers LP 2" is the sixth song to make it on the Hot 100 chart on the album. "The Monster" featuring pop song artist has spent four weeks in the Hot 100 charts. Out of the fifty songs that have been on the charts, 17 of then have made it to the top ten.
